NEWS:
March 2009: For the first time ever, we'll be teaching a hands-on After Effects Masterclass in Europe this summer! It will be held at Filmbase in Dublin, Ireland, from July 17-19, 2009, and limited to 8 students. (Filmbase is situated in Temple Bar, a trendy area right in the middle of Dublin.) Come for the training, stay for the “craic.” More...

Conference schedule: In 2009 we are scheduled to speak at NAB Post Production World (Vegas) in April; HOW Conference (Austin, Texas) in June; as well as two conferences in October, the Motion Conference (Albuquerque, New Mexico) and Postapalooza (Mt Pleasant, Michigan).

February 2009: Creating Motion Graphics 4th Edition was written for After Effects CS3. Instead of updating it for CS4, we wrote a free 48-page chapter outlining in detail the differences between CS3 and CS4. The PDF - with project files - is now available from Focal Press at www.cmg4cs4.com.

AEA 2 coverJanuary 2009: After Effects Apprentice 2nd Edition is now shipping from Amazon.com. Updated to include the After Effects CS4 features. Sample PDFs are included on our Books page (note that these are updated PDFs for 2nd Edition - Amazon currently is showing samples from first edition).

September 2008: Adobe announces After Effects CS4. We've posted a quick tour of the new features on our PVC blog. We’ve created an hour of video training on using the new features in AE CS4 for Lynda.com’s Online Training Library. The course is called After Effects CS4: New Creative Techniques; it can be found here. Two of the movies are free online; the remaining ten are available to Lynda.com subscribers. If you are not already a subscriber, a FREE 7-day pass to Lynda can be found at lynda.com/go/chrisandtrish.

July 2008: We bid farewell to Los Angeles for the Land of Enchantment! Chris & Trish have moved to the East Mountains of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Read why on our PVC blog entry.

March 2008: We are pleased to be one of the founding members of a new website - ProVideo Coalition that is a collection of blogs, articles, and news items from some of the best minds in the desktop video industry. We have two channels on PVC: our Creating Motion Graphics blog, where we will be postings news and thoughts on the industry as they come up, and CMG Keyframes, where we will be moving our Motion Graphics columns and articles archives.

CyberMotion is a motion graphics design studio founded by Trish and Chris Meyer. We specialize in high-impact, multi-layered 2D and 3D graphics for video and film, often tightly integrated with music.

Samples of our work can be found in our Projects section. We have created motion graphics for a large variety of media and venues, including film titles and trailers, commercials and show opens, and DVD bonus chapters, plus animations for nine-screen circlevisions, the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas, and NBC's AstroVision sign in Times Square. We also have crafted main and support graphics for a number of trade shows, press events, and other promotional purposes.

Many know us for the books we write about our craft, including the two-volume reference series Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects (widely used as a textbook, and considered the bible of its field), as well as the project-oriented After Effects in Production which contains a blend of tutorials and case studies. Please visit our Books page for more information.

Liquid AbstractsNature Abstracts

We created a two-volume video library for high-end stock footage house Artbeats. Called Liquid Abstracts and Nature Abstracts, these use the natural motion of water, leaves, wind chimes, and shadows as a starting point to create colorful background textures crafted to sit comfortably behind text, lower thirds, and ID bugs. We think you'll find them sensuous, as well as highly useful.

We regularly speak at trade shows and conferences. More details on all of these may be found on our Training page.

In addition, visit our Training page for an overview of products and seminars that we offer to help you learn more about After Effects and motion graphics. Trish also teaches After Effects classes in various cities around the US, and is available for in-house custom classes. See our Classes page for details.

In general, you will find that a large portion of this web site is dedicated to sharing what we have learned. The central hub for this is our Sharing page.

Chris also acts as an expert witness in intellectual property cases involving music sampling and sound analysis. He has prepared detailed analysis and reports for a number of large labels and artists in the Los Angeles area. If you are interested in these services, please email Chris at chris@cybmotion.com

On other subjects, we also invite you to visit our Wildscaping website – what we do when we’re away from our computers – plus our Commentary article, Going Green without Wasting Green, on how to be socially as well as financially responsible in your business.

We look forward to working with you. If you would like more information on our work, please contact us.
